General Standards for Aquatic Animals
Blue swimming crab is a fishery product that Thailand produces and has high export potential. Therefore, in order to enhance the recognition of Thai blue swimming crab products at both national and international levels, ensure consumer safety, and promote export, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives deems it appropriate to establish the standard for blue swimming crab.

- Cooked crab Fresh crab that has undergone a heat treatment process until the internal temperature of the meat is not less than 80°C.

This national agricultural and food standard specifies the required quality of bivalve mollusks known in Thai as “Hoi Malangphu,” commonly referred to as green mussel, sea mussel, or mussel, belonging to the family Mytilidae and the genera Perna and Mytilus, for distribution as fresh products or for further processing.

This agricultural standard applies to fish of the genus Lates in the family Latidae, with the scientific name Lates calcarifer (Bloch, 1790), known in Thai as “Pla Krapong Khao” and in English as Asian seabass, or by other names such as seabass and barramundi. It covers fish obtained from aquaculture or captured from natural waters, intended for distribution in the form of live fish and whole fresh fish or fresh dressed fish, with freshness preserved by chilling methods.

Food aquatic animals means aquatic animals as defined under the Royal Ordinance on Fisheries B.E. 2558 (2015) and its amendments, derived from aquaculture, with the purpose of being used for consumption.

Therefore, it is necessary to develop guidelines for operations, management, and production of food from aquatic animals to ensure consumer safety, maintain product quality until reaching consumers, and be consistent with the current situation as well as in line with international standards.

Ornamental freshwater aquatic animals are economic species with an increasing trend in market expansion both domestically and internationally. At the same time, importing countries are currently placing greater importance on farm-level aquaculture practices. Therefore, the Agricultural Commodity Standards Committee deems it appropriate to establish this agricultural standard on Good Aquaculture Practices (GAP) for ornamental freshwater aquatic animal farms, as a guideline for aquaculture practices to meet market requirements.

Crocodiles are another economic animal of Thailand, with products that can be utilized in all parts, such as meat, skin, and blood. Therefore, in order to ensure that Thai crocodile products are of good quality, meet safety standards for consumers, and comply with the requirements of trading partner countries, this standard has been established.
