General Standards for Aquatic Animals – Sub-group: Shrimp

    This agricultural standard covers the requirements for Good Aquaculture Practices (GAP) for marine shrimp farms of the genus Penaeus, such as black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) and banana shrimp (Penaeus merguiensis); the genus Litopenaeus, such as whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei); and the genus Metapenaeus, such as jinga shrimp (Metapenaeus affinis). It covers practices from farming, harvesting, to post-harvest handling prior to transportation from the farm, in order to obtain marine shrimp products of good quality and safe for consumers, taking into account animal health and welfare, environmental friendliness, and social responsibility.
